Will the tutor follow my child's current school curriculum?
Yes. Our tutors work from what your child is covering in class right now — the same methods their teacher uses, the same vocabulary, the same problem types that appear on upcoming tests. We ask about the current unit at the start of every plan so sessions are always relevant.
What does the free assessment involve?
The free assessment is a short diagnostic session — about 20 to 30 minutes — where we work through targeted questions with your child to pinpoint which 4th grade math skills are solid and which have gaps. You'll get a clear picture of what to work on and why, before committing to anything.
How do I find out what math gaps my child actually has?
That's exactly what the free assessment is for. It looks beyond the grade level at the specific skills — does your child understand equivalent fractions? Can they set up a long division problem independently? Do they know when to use multiplication vs. division in a word problem? We find the real gaps, not just the grade level.
How quickly can we get started after the assessment?
Usually within a few days. After your assessment, we match your child with a tutor based on their specific needs and your scheduling preferences, then set up the first session. Most families have their first tutoring session within the same week as the assessment.
My child is specifically stuck on long division. Can you focus on that?
Absolutely. Long division is the most common 4th grade math struggle we see, and our tutors are very good at breaking it down into small, manageable steps. What equipment or software does my child need?
A laptop or tablet with a camera and microphone, and a stable internet connection. That's it. We use a straightforward video platform — nothing to download or install. Most families are up and running within minutes of joining the first session.
Can I sit in on a tutoring session?
Yes, and many parents do — especially for the first session or two. It's a great way to see the tutor's approach and understand how your child responds to it. Once families feel comfortable, most kids do better with a little space to work independently, but that's entirely up to you.
Is there a contract? Can we cancel anytime?
There's no long-term contract. You can pause or cancel your plan at any time. We'd rather earn your continued enrollment every month than lock you into something that isn't working.
