The Reality

When High School Stakes Go Up

High school isn't just harder — it's higher stakes. Every grade, every test, and every semester matters more than it did in middle school. Most students can't afford to fall behind and catch up later.

📊

GPA Under Pressure

College admissions look at every semester. A rough quarter in 10th grade doesn't disappear — it follows your student on every application they submit.

📝

AP & Honors Overload

AP courses move fast and don't wait for students who are lost. One missed concept in AP Chemistry can unravel a whole unit before the next test.

🎯

SAT/ACT Timing

There are only so many test dates before college apps are due. Each attempt needs to count — which means preparation has to start well before the test window.

🏛️

College Applications

Essays, grades, test scores, extracurriculars — the list never shrinks. A tutor gives your student one fewer thing to fall behind on during the most demanding years.

The problem isn't your teen. It's that no one has explained it the right way yet.

AP Courses and Honors Classes

AP and honors classes carry more weight — both in the classroom and on college applications. Our specialist tutors know these curricula in depth and work at the pace your student actually needs, not the pace of a 30-person class.

🧪

AP Sciences

AP Biology, Chemistry, Physics 1 & 2, Environmental Science — tutors who know the AP curriculum specifically, not just the general subject.

AP Math

AP Calculus AB & BC, AP Statistics — working through free-response problems, past exams, and the exact concepts that trip students up in each unit.

✍️

AP English

AP Language & Composition and AP Literature — rhetorical analysis, argument essays, poetry, and timed writing under exam-like conditions.

AP specialist sessions are available at an additional charge. Ask during your free assessment and we'll match your student with a tutor who knows their specific AP course inside and out.
Frequently Asked Questions

Questions About High School Tutoring

Do your tutors follow my child's actual school curriculum?
Yes — that's the whole point of 1-on-1. Before sessions start, your tutor reviews what your student is currently studying, what's coming up on the syllabus, and where they're falling behind. Sessions are built around their actual class, not a generic high school syllabus.
Can one tutor handle both math and English?
It depends on the specific subjects and level. For most core high school coursework, yes — many of our tutors are strong across multiple subjects. For AP and honors classes, we match your student with a tutor who specializes in that course. We'll sort out the right setup during the free assessment.
When should we start SAT/ACT prep?
Most students benefit from starting
test prep
three to six months before their target test date. Juniors aiming for a spring SAT typically start in the fall. For ACT, the same general timeline applies. Earlier is almost always better — more time means less pressure per session and more room to build up weak areas.
My student needs help with AP classes and the college essay. Can you do both?
Very common for 11th and 12th graders. We can split session time across both — some time on the AP course, some on the essay, depending on what's most time-sensitive each week. Your tutor will help your student prioritize so nothing falls through the cracks.
How long are sessions and how often should we meet?
Sessions are 50 minutes. Most high school students meet once or twice a week depending on how many subjects they need support with and how much pressure is coming up. Your free assessment will help us recommend a starting schedule that fits your student's workload.
Is online tutoring effective for high school students?
Absolutely. High schoolers are generally comfortable with technology, and the online format offers real flexibility — no commute, no scheduling around traffic, and the ability to share screens instantly for reviewing essays, working through math problems, or pulling up textbook pages in real time.
