Online Elementary School Tutoring (Grades K–5)
The homework battles start early. Sight words in 1st grade. Multiplication tables in 3rd. Five-paragraph essays in 5th. Your child is working hard — but sometimes they need more than a parent can give. That's exactly what we do.
The Elementary Years Set Everything That Comes After
These years look simple from the outside. But what happens between kindergarten and 5th grade shapes how your child learns — and how they feel about learning — for the rest of their life.
Reading Gaps Widen Fast
A child who struggles with phonics in 1st grade hits a wall with comprehension by 3rd. The gap doesn't fix itself — it grows. Every year without the right help is a year of falling further behind.
Math Is a Tower, Not a Road
Every concept builds on the last. Miss multiplication in 3rd grade, and fractions in 4th become a struggle. Miss fractions, and pre-algebra in 6th becomes a wall. A gap at the base doesn't stay small.
Writing Confidence Starts Here
Kids who fall behind in basic sentence structure often start avoiding writing entirely. The anxiety grows alongside the gap. Getting help in elementary school builds the habit — and the confidence — before avoidance takes hold.
The Learning Window Is Now
K–5 is when the brain is most receptive to building foundational skills. Study habits, reading routines, and math fluency take root in these years. What your child learns to do now carries into every grade that follows.
Subjects We Help Elementary Students With
From sounding out words in kindergarten to writing multi-paragraph essays in 5th grade — we cover every subject your child needs, all in one place.
Reading & Phonics
Letter sounds, phonemic awareness, sight words, reading fluency, and comprehension. We build readers from the ground up — starting exactly where your child is right now.
Math
Counting, number sense, place value, multiplication, fractions, long division, and word problems. Every session follows your child's school curriculum so tutoring directly supports what their teacher is covering.
Writing
From building sentences in 1st grade to structured essays in 5th — spelling, grammar, creative writing, and paragraph organization. We help your child find their voice on the page.
Science
Earth science, life science, and basic physical science concepts explained in clear, simple language. We turn textbook facts into understanding your child can actually talk about and use.
Social Studies
Maps, community helpers, early American history, geography, and civics basics. We help elementary students understand the world around them — and why it matters.
One tutor, every subject. Your child’s tutor can cover math and reading in the same session. No shuffling between specialists. No re-explaining the same background to a new face every week. Need homework help across subjects? One tutor handles it.
Choose Your Child's Grade
Each grade page covers what your child is learning this year, where students commonly need the most support, and what a tutoring session looks like for that grade.
What Makes Elementary Tutoring Different
Teaching a 7-year-old is not the same as teaching a 14-year-old. Here is how we think about learning for young students.
Patience Is a Non-Negotiable
Young learners need more encouragement, slower pacing, and more repetition than older students. Our tutors are trained to meet kids where they are — without frustration, without pressure. The goal is confidence alongside skill.
Curriculum-Aligned, Every Week
We don't teach on a generic script. We find out exactly what your child is working on in school right now — and build every session around it. Your child's tutor supports their teacher, not a separate agenda.
Same Tutor, Every Session
Consistency matters for young kids. Your child works with one tutor who knows their strengths, their sticking points, and the best way to explain things to them. Not a rotating roster of new faces every week.
Frequently Asked Questions About Elementary Tutoring
Our elementary tutors cover reading and phonics, math, writing, science, and social studies. One tutor can work across multiple subjects in the same session — so your child doesn't need a different specialist for every area where they need help. If your child needs support in both math and reading, one tutor handles both.
All sessions are 50 minutes, 1-on-1 with the same tutor every week. Our tutors know how to keep young learners engaged for the full session — using activities, visual tools, and variety to hold attention without burning kids out. We find 50 minutes is the right length for elementary-age students: long enough to make real progress, short enough to keep energy up.
Not at all. Reading gaps can be addressed at any point in elementary school. The earlier we start the better — but a child who begins tutoring in 3rd grade can absolutely build strong, lasting reading skills. We meet your child exactly where they are and work forward from there. Starting is what matters most.
Yes. Before sessions begin, we learn what your child is currently covering in class. Every tutoring session is built around their school work — not a separate track that competes with it. Your child's tutor is an extension of what happens in the classroom. If there is a test coming up, we prep for that. If there is a specific concept their teacher just introduced, we reinforce it.
Sessions happen live on video with a shared digital whiteboard and on-screen activities. Young students respond well to one consistent tutor they see every week — it becomes a familiar routine. Tutors are trained to use visual tools, simple language, and a pace that keeps little learners engaged without overwhelming them. A parent or caregiver is welcome to be nearby, especially in the first few sessions.
